Curtain wall

« Back to Glossary Index

A curtain wall is a non-load-bearing façade system typically fixed back to the building’s structural frame at slab edges, transferring its self-weight and wind loads back through brackets/anchors rather than carrying floor loads. In hotels, it is most commonly a unitised or stick-built aluminium-and-glass system, which tends to increase façade costs and coordination requirements compared with window-in-wall solutions.
